➤ Online auction company eBay has acquired the New York City-based Hunch, which offers a “recommendation engine” designed to find things users like based on their shared
data. A press release from eBay cited “Hunch’s familiarity with and expertise in tailoring data to meet customer needs” as the company’s selling point. That technology “can also be applied to other technology opportunities across eBay, including search, advertising and marketing initiatives, to better surface product and search results based on customers’ tastes.”
