Broadcom To Buy NetLogic In $3.7 Billion Deal

The Irvine, Calif.,-based Broadcom, known primarily for its set top box processors, announced its intention to pay approximately $3.7 billion in a cash deal to acquire the Santa Clara, Calif.,-based NetLogic Microsystems. “With NetLogic Microsystems, Broadcom is acquiring a leading multicore embedded processor solution, market leading knowledge-based processors, and unique digital front-end technology for wireless base stations that are key enablers for the next generation infrastructure build-out,” said Scott McGregor, Broadcom president and CEO, in a statement.
